The goal of the HBC programme is to improve quality of life for people living with HIV through a high quality home based palliative care programme.
Trained community based workers carry out home based care duties. HBC assists and provides care for people who are left alone in their homes and/or have no access to medical care. Patients and their families are trained on the memory box concept and on how to select a caregiver (foster parent) for their children in the event of their death. Family members and children have the opportunity to receive VCT and bereavement counseling. The organization aims to reach 1 200 people in 2010 through the HBC programme.
PPR has partnered with 8 local churches to create an enabling environment for church leaders and members to tackle the impact of HIV in their communities. Developing church leadership is a strategic focus which will enable churches to have a greater impact at local level. This is done by conducting workshops and participating in church based activities.
